Clean the water bucket
- Turn off and unplug the unit for safety.
- Empty any standing water.
- Wash the tank with warm, soapy water and a sponge or soft brush.
- To disinfect, use a solution of one part white vinegar to four parts water. Swish the solution around the tank, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse it out and dry it completely.
Clean or replace the air filter
- Unplug the unit and remove the air filter, which is typically on the back or side.
- If you have a reusable filter, use a vacuum brush attachment to remove loose dust and debris. If it’s heavily soiled, wash it with warm, soapy water. Allow it to air dry completely before reinserting.
- If your unit has a disposable filter (like a HEPA or carbon filter), you must replace it every six months or as recommended by the manufacturer.
Clean the coils and grills
- With the unit unplugged, use a soft-bristle brush or vacuum cleaner brush attachment to gently remove dust from the evaporator coils and grilles.
- For a deeper clean, you can use a damp cloth with mild soap and water on the coils, taking care to avoid bending the delicate fins.
- Wipe down the outer casing and air vents with a soft, damp cloth.
Check the drainage system
- If you use a continuous drain hose, inspect it for clogs, kinks, or mineral buildup.
- Clear any obstructions using a flexible brush or by flushing the hose with a vinegar solution.
- Ensure the hose is properly connected and sloped downward to prevent leaks.
